Double IPA, tiež známa aj ako Imperial IPA, je produktom výlučne remeselných pivovarov. Vznikla v USA s jediným účelom – ukojiť potreby aj chmeľu najodolnejších jedincov. Vyznačuje sa extrémnou horkosťou, presahujúcou magickú hranicu 100 IBU (international Bitterness Unit). Magickú preto, že ľudský jazyk už nedokáže rozoznať akýkoľvek ďalší nárost horkosti. Naša verzia má jednoduchý sladový základ, pozostávajúci z pale ale a malého množstva svetlého karamelového sladu. Táto kombinácia vytvára vo vôni jemné sušienkové pozadie, no hlavnú úlohu zohráva duo chmeľov Centennial a Simcoe. Prvý z nich dáva pivu jemný citrusovo-kvetový nádych, no dominuje ten druhý s vôňou ihličia, šišiek a borievky. Chuť je od začiatku veľmi horká, vyvážená sladovou sladkosťou. Double IPA, a.k.a. Imperial IPA is a product of exclusively craft breweries. It was born in the USA with a sole purpose – to satisfy even the most hops-resistant individuals. It’s significant in its extreme bitterness, exceeding the magic limit of 100 IBU (international bitterness unit), beyond which the human tongue cannot distinguish any further increment in bitterness. Our version has a simple malty basis consisting of Pale Ale and a small amount of light caramel malts. This combination conjures tender biscuit background, whereas the main part is played by a duo of hops, Centennial and Simcoe. The first one grants the beer an mild citrusy-floral touch, though it is dominated by the latter with its conifer needles, pine cones and juniper aromas. The taste starts off as very bitter balanced with the malty sweetness. Throughout the beer, a light alcohol warmth is present, finishing with mid-dry resin bitterness.
