Rye has been grown in Central Europe ever since the Bronze age and around here almost everyone recognizes its full, slightly spicy, earthy flavor of rye bread and liquor. Rye belongs to the same family as wheat and barley, but has lower warmth and nutrients requirements, therefore it thrives in harsher conditions, even in winter. The rugged character of this crop dominates throughout our new autumn special, especially in its finish. Therefore, comparing to a typical American IPA, our Red Rye IPA has more complex, slightly spicy and caramel body, being dark amber to copper red in color. Initial taste showcases refreshing pomelo with a subtle peppery spiciness on tongue and almost immediately transforms itself into bitter and resinous. Sharp rye character is most prominent in the aftertaste, just carefully supplemented with a dry hoppy bitterness.
